have you heard of ramenbox.com? I discovered this site a around christmas and have been anxiously waiting until the site comes back up. (apparently they are upgrading to a bigger warehouse) anywho, it is supposed to be a site where you can buy all different kinds of ramen, and not just your 19 cent stuff. :) They have a twitter and facebook, but apparently this upgrade is a huge project- you can also find blogs of other people who talk about it.
ReplyDeleteActually, I haven't! That sounds very exciting and I will have to check them out when the site is back up. Thanks for sharing Sweet D.!
ReplyDeleteI had bought a few packets of some kind of Indian ramen brand: Maggi 2-Minute Noodles: Masala. The company seems to be owned by Nestlé.
ReplyDeleteMasala ramen unfortunately sounded a little better than it tasted, but I was able to dress it up a bit more palatably. I added to one 3.35 oz packet:
1 handful frozen peas and carrots mix
2 handfuls frozen broccoli
1/2 tsp ketchup
pinch of Powder Douce (a specific spice blend -- some pumpkin pie mix with a little sugar blended in would be similar.)
It's interesting that the picture on the package shows the mixture garnished with similar vegetables.
All in all, the original and undoctored Masala noodles were too salty, so any garnishes need to cut that back. I suspect that adding chutney might not be a bad idea, if I ever had some of that around.
